my sister's cat [named moo] growls whenever ANYONE goes near it or he sees anyone. nothing is wrong with him. He gets regular vet visits. He is your average healthy, one year old male, nuetered, cat. [he is cute too! black with white paws and chest... except she has a continuous feeder so he is packing on the pounds which i worned her against, but he is a lazy housecat] its almost like he is ULTRA ANTISOCIAL! like seriously.. if you pet him no matter where or whatever he will just growl and hiss.. why is he doing this? she initially tried the spray bottle, but it failed miserably. what can we do to make him stop!?

  1. Some (actually most) cats are not social animals. They have to form a relationship with you on their own terms. The spray bottle probably just made it worse. The only thing you can really do is let the cat come to you to be petted as the person or persons your sister got her cat from may have abused it and it is scared of people. If the cat is around young children keep a close eye on it at all times.

  2. My guess is that he is just a mean cat. I have been a vet tech for a long time and worked at the animal shelter for two years. I have seen so many cats!!! They all have their own personality. He is very young and already displaying a nasty disposition. Hope your sister doesn't have any small children running around.
