My sister's hamster, Ginger, has a wet tail and stomach, and can't/won't open one of her eyes, nor does she eat/ drink that much...It's the weekend and we cant get it to a vet! And I'm pretty sure it will die if we don't help her by tomorrow. What should we do?

  1. i guess there is nothing else to do? try calling as many vets as possible see when you can enter or go to a walk in animal clinic they will help also try a pet store?

  2. aww ):

    just let it rest,

that's all you can really do.

wet tail is a really difficult disease for hamsters to overcome.

try calling every vet in the area,

see if there is any in office.

  3. if u cant get it to the vet i would put it to sleep in the most humane way possible. try to do it fast and painless with no suffering involved or u could wait a few days and see what the vet says but I'm not sure how long it has been going on, i would youthanize it to stop the suffering

  4. Bring her to the vet. Get medication. And CLEAN the cage before you put her back in there after the vet visit.

  5. I would try to locate a vet that would take Ginger. I really wish I had other suggestions. Maybe if you could at least talk to a vet they could give you some suggestions until you can see them. Everything I read indicates it needs vet attention. But, I would keep searching the net, trying reach a vet for ideas of things you can do for Ginger until she can be seen. Try keeping Ginger dry and warm:

Do you know anyone that works at like a Petsmart? Maybe they could arrange getting you the antibiotics you need? I'm trying to think of anything and they have vets, so they'd know how much a hamster would need (since they sell hamsters).

Wishing you the best of luck with Ginger.
