My sister can't go to UVM anymore because...?

She failed Chemsity and she just found out. And she doesn't know how to tell our mother or grandparents. Can anyone tell me any ideas/ways to tell them without them getting too upset at her? If anyone can I'll greatly appreciate it.

I might write a letter explaining the resons for failing and circumstances, with a recomendation that her parents spend a day or two thinking it over before caller her (that way the conversation is not just imediate emotional resoponse). I would think she should explain carefully why she failed chemistry, accnologing her mystakes and what she has learned from the process, while still trying to cast herself in a good light.  I would also accnologe everything her parents have done for her, and explain steps she plans to take in the future in order to get back on the planned track.
