it runs in the family my uncle has it, but back to my question. She's six right now and a lot of her teeth have fallen out our old dentist says she'll need braces but our new one didn't mention anything about it! does she need braces? and if she does when will she need them? because it doesn't make sense to put braces on baby teeth right?

  1. Dont worry about  braces yet. I  had a similar problem and needed my jaw to be fixed before they could braces in my teeth. I was actually an adult when I  had my  jaw done,Wait until she is a teenager and save up  money as all this can be very costly.

  2. wait until all her adult teeth come in. she's going to need braces, it's rare to see perfect teeth.

  3. The issue of using braces on baby teeth is often misunderstood.

Orthodontists often put braces on baby teeth to ensure that the adult teeth come in straight.  When there is an underbite or other abnormality, waiting for braces can cause serious problems with the eruption of adult teeth.

It's best to ask your new dentist about her need for braces.  Getting a second opinion is also a good idea.

    Be well.

  4. An underbite can be detected when you're quite young since it has more to do with jaw position than your teeth.

At this time you don't need to worry about braces at all.  If/when she needs them the soonest would be when she's a pre-teen or in her early teens.

Your old dentist was being a little over zealous saying she needs braces already.  Your new dentist probably didn't mention it because it's of no concern at her age.
