She just turned 10 and can't sleep in her own room. She is terrified too, and my mother and I can't tell why, because we have never had anyone break into our house that could cause that kind of emotional trauma, and we have an alarm on our house that we set every night. Please help. My mom and I both have back problems because we can never get to sleep at night, because she takes up too much room. She's fine if we fall asleep with her, and then leave, but she always wakes up in the middle of the night and finds one of us and then goes back to bed. It really doesn't help that my mom always gives into her temper tantrums and lets her sleep in her bed.

Please - can anyone give me any advice to get my sister to get a life and learn to sleep in her own room?

Plz don't say "She'll grow out of it". It's ridiculous, she's 10 years old!

Thanks.

  1. You asked this yesterday.

How bout you read some of THOSE answers.

And YES she will grow out of it. SHES ONLY TEN.

And if anyone needs a life it's YOU.

How can you tell your little sister to "get a life" just because she's scared? She's a little kid.

    Wow.

  2. My sister does the same thing and she's gonna be 14. We've taken her to shrinks and the works, but I think the best thing to do is to have her face whatever fears she has. Without doing that she won't grow. My mom and I learned that a few years too late, but after standing up to my sister it has seemed to work. It sounds harsh but really she will be stronger. Hopefully it works for you too!
