  Simple answer is no....... there is a 50 pound weight limit on luggage so tell her to pack then get on a scale and weigh her stuff.

give the kids there own suitcase

Probably not.  I often traveled alone with two kids and I found it easier to have two smaller suitcases for the kids and a larger one for me.  She can use a cart when she gets there.
