my sister is directing our city's theater program production of Wicked, and she wants to make it as similar to the actual production as possible. she needs help on where to buy the EXACT costumes (or at least really close) worn in Wicked (especially Glinda's). she would prefer if the place had a website. also, she has a pretty big budget of $56,000 (every year, a 3 rich families who have kids in the drama group donate like 50,000 each!) please help.

  1. Don't do it.  It'll cost your entire budget and then some when the copyright owners find out and sue you for breach of copyright, and they will win.

  2. Hey, I made a really long list with links and stuff, but it won't post because it's too lon! my email is katiegerard@gmail.com, just send me an email asking for it and then I'll send it to you, okay?

If want, I can also send you the full video of Wicked your sister can watch and use to direct.

  3. Alright, if your sister is directing Wicked she's in violation of copyright.

    From musicalschwartz.com:

    WICKED LICENSING/COPYRIGHT

"We are in the process of negotiating the deal for stock-and-amateur licensing rights to WICKED. Needless to say, I don't expect them to become available for some time, since they are generally not made available until after the Broadway production has closed. If all continues to go well with the Broadway production, that is probably several years away. Sincerely, Stephen Schwartz"

    And again from the FAQ

    CONCERT OF WICKED

The producers of the show have asked Stephen Schwartz to permit no more than THREE (3) songs from WICKED to be performed in any single event, therefore, a concert version of all the music from WICKED cannot be allowed at this time.

In order to obtain the rights for to perform a musical you have to contact the company that holds them (whether it's DramaSource, Music Theatre Internation, Theatrical Rights Worldwide or whatever) and pay a royalty fee.

Only up to 3 songs from the show may be performed by a non-proffesional group.

So your sister's production would be  completely, utterly, and undeniably illegal.
