Question:

My sister is having cramps?

My 14yo sis is pregnant in 34th week. This morning (it's 11:42 here) she woke up at 5 am having some cramps. They weren't regular: one was 5:40, next 6:35, next 7:18, next 8:05, next 8:46, next 9:27, next 10:11, next was 10:53 and if it goes like that, next one would be in a few miutes. I didn't go to work today because I'm worried about her. These are not regular Braxton Hicks, my sis says they are like period cramps. I looked if her v****a was dilating but I didn't see anything irregular, so I think it's not. Could it be labour with such irregular cramps? They are not very painful, as she says, just like periods.

  1. Only a doctor or trained professional can feel to see if she is dilating.  If you both are so worried then call her doctor.  Its probably just braxton hicks contractions though.

  2. First of all you cannot see dilation!! its something that is felt.  Second why the heck are YOU looking at her v****a?? please call her Dr.

  3. I had the same problem a few days ago..... she might be dehydrated. Have her drink plenty of water and get some rest. Hope this helps.

  4. Actually Im 34 weeks and going through the same thing. Im actually not sure how hers feel. But She should call the doctor and get checked out.

And you would need a doctor to check for dilation.

  5. She needs to call her doctor or go to the emergency room so that they can check her out.  It doesn't sound like Braxton Hicks because they are coming to soon and one right after another.  Her doctor will have her to come into the office or go straight to the hospital.  Better to be safe then sorry.

  6. If its constant like that, you should have her call her DR to see what they advice. It could be a sign of early labor. I remember having cramps every hour then all of a sudden, it was 7-15 minutes apart and I was worried so I went to the ER and nurses checked my cervix and said I was dilating and they have to give me a shot to stop the contractions because I was only at 33 weeks.

Please take her in to see the DR asap. Rather be safe than sorry

  7. It probably is Braxton Hicks.

  8. It sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions.  You cannot tell if someone is dilating by looking at their v****a.  The v****a doesn't dilate, the cervix dilates and the doctor can tell how much by measuring it.  I hope that you didn't really look at your 14 year old sister's v****a.  If she is concerned she needs to call her doctor.  But irregular cramping at 34 weeks is most likely Braxton HIcks.

  9. Wow, I don't know what disturbs me more...the fact that you are a guy and said you looked at your sister's v****a...or she's 14 years old and 34 weeks pregnant....

  10. It could be anything from actual labor pains to just cramping due to dehydration.  Dehydration can bring on signs of premature labor.  Have her drink lot's of water and see if the cramping doesn't die down.  If it continues, call the doctor.

  11. I'M SORRY BUT YOU LOOKED TO SEE IF SHE WAS DILATED? NOW THATS NASTY. WHAT KIND OF RELATION SHIP DO U HAVE. BUT UM IT MIGHT BE CONTRACTIONS. HER BEST BET IS TO GO TO HER DOCTOR AND LET THEM CHECK TO SEE IF SHE IS DILATED.

  12. Tell her to walk around, or take a shower/bath, and if they go away, then it's not true labor.  If they get stronger and longer then she needs to call her doctor and see if she should go in to get checked.  She could be in the early stages of labor, and since she still has 6 weeks left they might not want her to have the baby yet.

Also if she is dehydrated at all it will cause contractions, so have her drink plenty of fluids too.

    good luck!

  13. You looked at her v****a to see if she was dilated?  Do you even know WHAT you need to be looking at? Apparently not as dilation isnt a visual thing!

Shes probably dehydrated get her 2 very large glasses of water and have her lie down for an hour, if the cramps continue then call her OB

  14. Probably Braxton Hicks, take her to the doctor to be sure.

Your v****a doesn't dilate.  Your cervix does and that's inside.  A doctor will have to check to see if she is dilated.

  15. r u serious??
