She says she only takes one pill at a time, but I think she takes more than that. Her speech is slured and she says off the wall things.

Has anyone ever taken Klonapin? Does it make you act that way?

  1. I take klonapin daily. I do not personally have side effects of this kind, however all drugs in this class have the potential to have similar side effects to the ones you're describing your sister showing.

DON'T jump to any conclusions that she's taking more than her prescribed dose or "on something" else because you just can't tell from watching her.

It might be that the dose prescribed for her is too high for her body to adjust to. If your sister is an adult, tell her you're worried about how she reacts to the medication and ask if she feels she needs help. If you're both young (as in under 18 and therefore legally minors), tell your parents you're concerned about your sister. She needs to talk to her doctor about these side effects if she feels they are a problem for her

  2. It absolutely makes you feel almost drunk (when you take too much).

At the normal dose she may be loopy for the first few days but then your body adjusts to it and you're fine.

I say she's taking too many.

  3. She's taking too much.  It could be that she's only taking one pill but that it's too strong for her.  She should talk to her doctor.

  4. because it is a benzodiazapine and anti-anxiety medications can make you a bit drunk acting especially if you take to much

  5. i take klonipin for panic disorder i am prescribed 2 mg. 3x day the drug makes me sleepy or mellow so i can relax. your sister sounds like she is taking more than 1 pill or she is using alcohol or street drugs with it or the dose is too strong for her,she may be allergic to it. i would call your drug store or you local ER to talk to a nurse about this, the sooner the better good luck to you both

  6. i take klonopin for anxiety. it takes the edge off. I often take it (as prescribed by dr) for insomnia. i have never had reactions like your sister. maybe she is taking something else with it that you dont know about. Or maybe she is taking more than is prescribed.

"Google" Klonopin and see what you find out about the uses, dosage and side effects of it. A follow-up with her doctor is advised with any medication questions.
