My sister left for college today and she could not take her dog. The dog is a 8 year old, over weight, Affenpincher. Sophie, the dog, doesn't like going out for walks and she isn't very social to anyone that is not in my family. I really want to make her not so lonely without my sister and there is no way I'm gonna be getting another dog. Any ideas? Please help!

  1. you are so sweet to worry about her dog -- try pig ears they my dog LOVES them. maybe it will cheer yours up.

  2. Well she needs to start exercising since she is overweight so taking her on daily walks will help her and also will help bond you together.  She needs more socialization so taking her anywhere where she may encounter other dogs and people will help.  Play with her more, play ball, etc.  Just keep her busy.  The more time you spend with her the more she will bond with you.  You really need to start exercising her and maybe feeding her less until she looses some weight.  You might be surprised at her change when she begins to shed some of the extra pounds.

  3. have a friend of yous bring their dog over if they have 1 just 2 play 4 a while and if they dont get along him live alone with u

  4. That's very nice of you to take such good care of your sister's dog.  It's going to take her a bit to get used to your sister not being around.  Do you have anything that smells like her?  An old blanket?  It would help her to sleep with that for awhile.  Once she adjusts to your sister being gone, she will attach herself to you and not be as lonely.  For now, understand that she might be grieving a little.  Just your presence will help her.  Something as simple as sitting with her while watching tv gives her company.

Good luck.  It's really great that you don't want her to be lonely!

  5. Keep her company as much as you can.A couple of chew bones and toys may help..Poor dog is just missing its owner

  6. just give the dog ALOT of love and attention! and it won't be that sad! also when your sister has the time make sure she comes by as much as possible and that will make the dog happy!

  7. Lots of one on one attention at times and lots of supervised attention around others. She misses your sister but she will become very attached to you in a very short time. Start taking her on short walks and increase the distance every week. Watch her diet and only feed the recommended amounts. Give her fresh water daily. Grooming is a nice way to bond with a dog. They loved to be brushed. Take her with you whenever you can. She will not only be closer to you, it will help her socialize.

  8. try spending as much time with it as you can. it will get better with time

  9. find a dog park

  10. drown it?

  11. The dog needs to go for walks.  Hermits don't become more social by sitting in their caves.  When you say she isn't very social, do you mean she is aggressive?  Whatever the case, get into a training program where you can meet people and she can meet dogs and the two of you can have a bunch of fun together.  She will soon bond to you through this and will be much less lonely.

  12. you could play with your dog with some dog toys i guess.....i dont know what to tell ya... i mean there are lazy dogs out there u know....like i had some mean @$$ puppy...it was soo aggressive and hyper all the time...i couldnt control dog...soo yea try to socialize with your dog more i guess...its not much of a help but...i hope this helps...
