She is 17, and I have read a few sites that only seem to require ID for those 18 & older. She's flying Delta. The only other thing she has with her is a debit card; her school ID and everything else she left at home. She is flying home to Idaho from Missouri where she has been visiting me and my husband for about 10 days.

  1. Have her call the airline and ask what she can do. I don't know how she'll get through security without an official government issued ID but maybe the airline has an idea.

  2. that happen to me. they held me back. but luckily i got someone who had a sentimental heart and let me go.

  3. You need to file a Police Report so that if someone misuses the Id then she is covered. Then I would call the Airlines and tell them of the loss and that you have a Police Report to back your story up.

  4. You are correct, Id is not required for anyone under the age of 18....the only reason they may ask her for one is if she looks like she is 18. Her school ID should be sufficient.  I work for an airline and there have been many times when people have called because they have lost/misplaced their id. What they do at the airport in these situations is to just pull the person aside and ask them some questions. I really don't believe your sister will have a problem.

  5. yes
