My sister thinks she has impetigo. She's had it before and went a week without realizing and I didn't get it. But I'm scared I will and I start school in a week and don't want to catch it. How do I stop my self from getting it or do I need to if I never got it last time?

  1. Just make sure you keep your hands clean.  Don't get in her face, share food, etc.  You should be fine

  2. You can't count on not getting it.  Ask her to use excellent hygiene, and you do the same.  It is most important that she prevents herself from spreading it to others, so hopefully she is receiving medical treatment.

  3. Impetigo is caused by Staph aureus. The lesions will secrete a seruous looking fluid that is very contagious. Would highly suggest that she keep aways from others, wash her bed linens, towels, anything that she comes in contact with in hot water with a bit of bleach. When she clears up, throw away those items.

Do not use anything she has used. Hopefully she has been to the doctor to get treated for that.
