This kind of hurts my feelings, but i guess I am realizing he is growing up. Is this normal to feel this way, he will not even let me take him to his class anymore , or stand next to him at the bus stop. This hurts me because he has been with only me since birth, and I feel like him cutting everything off was a shock. THanks for your input.

  1. Aww, don't be offended!  I went thru the same thing with my dad when I was 6.  He was walking me to school one morning, and I really didn't want him to take me to my classroom.  So I said to him, "I'll walk the rest of the way by myself".  He let me, watching me as I walked.  I don't know if what I felt was EMBARRASSMENT or not, but I just remember wanting to do things by myself.  It's a part of growing up I suppose. :-)

  2. awww this is normal dont worry, he loves you

  3. YOU SHOULDNT BE CONSTANTLY HUGGING KISSING YOUR SON ETC. CUZ HE WONT LIKE THAT KNOW HE'S OLDER HE'S GROWING UP IT'LL BE EMBARASSING TO HIM = )

  4. THIS IS NORMAL. NO OFFENSE BUT HE DOESNT ANT U HANGING OVER HIM ALL THE TIME! H WANTS TO LOOK COOL IN FRONT OF HIS PALS.

  5. Ah.. that SO sweet I know how you feel. My kids {boys} are embarrassed when I show any kind of affection in public too. since they were in the first grade. It's OK just respect his feelings he is just trying to be more independent.

  6. i am a mom of 5, and this is normal. believe me he won't b that way for long. my 17 yr old still will kiss me good bye. i have 4 boys

  7. face it mom he's becoming a big boy now. parenting can hurt but it sure is fun to watch them grow. most kids i know go through this. he's almost seven and just not cool for mom to be all over him. sure is cute isn't it. you'll be alright, besides your his mom , he loves you.

  8. he's coming to a point in his life where proving himself to his peers really counts. he doesn't want to look like a 'momma's boy' but he'll get  over it as he matures. Just always let him know how much you love him and that no matter what he does you always will. Even if he pulls away from you, don't pull away from him. It's important that he knows and feels your love no matter the stage of his life.

  9. It's just a stage alot of young boys will go through. It is their independent stage. It is completely normal and will not last forever. Kids go through the stage that they are easily embarassed by their parents or are "too cool" to be seen with mom or dad. Try just spending time with the at home like maybe a movie night, just dinner as a family, or even take him to a movie or something that he is interested in. By doing that you will be able to spend quality time with him but without him getting embarassed.
