Question:

My six year old brother can't walk with his feet flat on the floor...?

He walks on his toes with his heels raised up like he's wearing high-heels all the time. We know for a fact that he walks like this because of the daycare he attends- the lady there insists that the children walk on their "tippy-toes." Now he can't walk regularly. Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? How do we solve this problem? Is there like a special type of shoe or something he could wear? Thanks for your help in advance.

  1. I have a friend whose sister and brother both have this condition - something about a stretched muscle or whatever.  They walk on their tip toes and kinda gimp about - it's not a normal gait and their balance is awful..  My friend has a hard time carrying her daughter in her car seat even, because of it...  She can still work but her sister is using it to get SSI, so now she is too..  but anyway not the point - surgery couldn't fix it so I wouldn't put him through it...

  2. What is she a nut??  Making the kids walk on their toes??  First I would change daycares.  He'll stop if he doesn't have to do it everyday.

  3. his achilles tendon is too tight! he may need surgery! my son walks the same way still aged 13 yrs, and he also has hunched sholders from tilting forward! i was told he didn't need surgery! his father did have malnipulation in an operation! however he still walks on tippy toes! it is called club foot!
