Her father has walked out on us and her eight year old brother. Obviously a lot of distress has been caused. He is still in regular contact with them. He left for someone else! I am very hurt but I am prepared to work with him to help her. Any suggestions?

  2. I am very sorry to hear about what you and your kids are going through. Talk to her pediatrician she may have some suggestions. I dont mean to get meds or anything from the pediatrician, but this is probably common in kids that are going through tough times and they probably know good tactics to use to ensure your child feels loved and supported during this tough time.

  3. Her dad walking out on them is troubling her mentally and emotionally.

  4. She is dealing with a lot. I was 8 when my dad left. Don't make a big deal about the bed wetting. Get her the undies & the mattress protectors. Tell her that you'll work through the stuff (all the stuff) together. DON'T MAKE A JOKE ABOUT IT

  5. take her to the dr they can help you figure out ways for her to stop!

  6. It might be some time that the bed-wetting is stopped since she has to work through the trauma of her dad abandoning her.  So, you could use a leak proof mattress pad or get her Goodnites overnight underwear that absorbs the urine.  Just let her use them until she remains dry for a while, she won't have to deal with the shame of a wet bed and she can work on her real work - feeling like her dad still loves and values her.
