  1. Where are you seeing that the hd is not detected? Do you know if you have an IDE drive or a SATA drive?

    Go into the bios (setup). Watch the screen as the computer boots and it will tell you what key to press to enter the bios. Does your hd show up there? Restore the bios defaults, save the changes, and restart the computer.
