My snowboard has a crack in it. How bad is it?

I have a Salomon 157 and the nose has a crack on the top layer. It doesn't seem bad, but it runs almost across the board. Should I try to ride it and see what happens or should I trash it and get a new board?

  1. If the crack is in the top layer on the nose, it should be OK for now. New boards are expensive and it's hard to asses your board without looking at it but since the crack isn't in the base, or on any part that would really affect free riding drastically for that matter, I'd say you should ride it out and manage the crack closely.

It will, most likely, get bigger with time once it reaches the base and the cracked portion is touching the snow while you ride it's time to scrap the board. Until then you should be ok on it. (I would stay away from big air and you should take it to a shop to get someone who can actually see it to make an assessment but u should go to snowboard shop  and look at it.

  2. I cracked the tail of my forum youngblood. I wouldnt worry about it unless the top layer starts to peel up. If it does take it to the shop and get it fix. its alot cheaper to fix a board then trash it and buy a new one. If you want some really good tips, post a picture of the damage and Ill help out more. The base is really the only thing that matters so keep shredding unless it peels like i said before.

  3. if the crack is on the shiny top layer you should be fine. I had chunks missing off the top of this K2 I had and it still worked great. I wouldn't start to worry till the crack gets to the binding mounts.

  4. that just means you ride it really won't affect anything keep flexin

  5. if its on top it should be ok,the only thing is water getting into it and ruining your core..you can always take it into a shop and they can put some p-tex in it,but def dont buy a new board

  6. You should throw it away... and buy ski's!

  7. You should go to a snow board shop have them asses the damage and then you should see wheter you should get a new borard or not.
