  1. make it your "sweet" 16!!! how about a candy theme, you could get those ceral disensers and fill with candy and have cute bowls or cups for it, you can rent a cotton candy machine, you can buy one of those fountains to dip fruit in it everything you could think of to put chocolate on. Cookies, marshmallows, creme puffs, strawberries, kiwi, bananas, have different stations for each item. On the food table use square chunks of styrofoam with colorful plastic table cloth pieces draped over them to elevate the diffent foods and decorative filled candy jars to different heights. The table's centerpiece can be a large clear vase filled with colorful candies and a bouquet of colorful oversized silk daisies. wove a string of colored Christmas lights between the food platters and candy jars on the table and wrap it loosely in tulle for a fancy effect and a soft glow. On a large shelf behind the table place more filled candy jars elevated at different heights interspersed with various pictures of you when you was younger in colorful frames.

for games: Everyone is given a ticket with a candy bar name on it for drawings throughout the party; young guest draw tickets to help them feel involved. The prizes can consist of chocolate items, gift cards to chocolate stores or beanie babies with the Hershey kiss on them. a candy jar to guess how many candies were in the jar (the winner won the jar of candy) and unscramble the candy bar names where everyone was given 3 minutes to unscramble the candy. a chocolate/candy trivia game. take some party hats and cut them down to look like candy kisses and wrapped them in pretty foils. with a white ribbon coming out of the top with Hershey's written on it to look like a real candy kiss. Inside put a chocolate or candy trivia question.some of the kisses can have an instant prize in them in which the guest does not have to answer a trivia question but still have to do a dare to get the prize. place the kisses all over the room for decoration before and durring the game. The first person to volunteer can choose any candy kiss. When they unwrap the kiss they have to read the chocolate trivia question and answer correctly or the person had to draw from a bowl of funny dares.(one dare is stuff a marshmallow or two in your mouth and whistle happy birthday to the birthday girl, or put as man chcolate kisses in your mouth in a minute.

hand out your  invites wrapped around a chocloate candy bar .

  2. If you live in an apartment I think your best bet would be to contact your local county parks and local recreation areas.  Those usually are free or really cheap.  The next suggestion would be to rent a small banquet hall.  You can find cheaper onces at bowling alleys usually.  You don't have to bowl.  They just have separate rooms for parties.  Also, here in the midwest some restaurants have separate rooms to rent.  My daughter went to one at an italian restaurant and they had pizza and could decorate for their theme and had a dance area.  So, I would go on the internet in your area and look up halls, banquet facilities, but first try local recreation centers.  We actually found ours by looking up banquet facilities and it was at a local ethnic center (Polish) and we are not polish.

So once you find the place here are some ideas.  Some ideas you can do at home too.

Hollywood theme: Everyone dress up for a red carpet event. Rent a small hall or use a rec room. Have everyone wear white/black and you steal the show in red. Make it a dance. Buy a couple celebrity stand ups for pictures with your guests. Buy hollywood decorations at shindgiz, partycheap, hollywood megastore, etc. Have a DJ or load up a cd or mp3 with all your favorite dance music.

    .

Movie party at home. Have a movie themed party. They sell decorations for this at oriental trading. com and you can also find some movie stuff on the hollywood sites I mentioned above. Watch a cool movie, have popcorn and all kids of candy and junk food. Make or buy pizza and have sundaes. Have a sleep over with the girls if you want.

Luau, beach Hawaii:   Dollar tree dollar store has the cheapest decorations for this theme and they  have everything you would need.  Orientaltrading has a lot ofdecorations and favors for this theme and the cutest tropical invitation in the bottle. Give your guests leis as they come in. Play Limbo, Hula hoop, and have a few grass skirts and everyone (including the guys) have to give hulaing a try. Again if you have room to do this at home or you can rent a small room.  Tropical pinata.  Twister.

Candy theme: Pink tablecloths, pink and white balloons. Make candy bouquets for the tables with short wide mouth vase from the dollar store. Fill 1/3 with peppermint disks. Buy colorful lollipops and put in the vase. Make another one t he same but use candy sticks instead like cherry, lime, etc. You can attach bows to each one with a favor card that says your initial, 16 or thanks for coming to my sweet 16 and then after the party give them out as favors. Get personalized M and Ms to put in small favor bags. Get personalized hershey bar wrappers and little personalized stickers that go on the bottom of hershey's kisses. Buy plate size styrofoam 3 inch thick rounds and wrap in clear cellophane for a big hard candy decorations. you could put a wood dowel in one to make it a sucker. Play twister. For favors those candy necklaces, bracelets ands ring pops and candy lipsticks.  They sell inflatable lollipops at Windy City Novelities.

Neon theme. Bright colors, neon lights and glow in the dark items.  They sell lights that go in balloons and all kinds of neon and glow in the dark items at windy city novelitis, oriental trading and U.S. Toy Company.

For any theme you choose check out scene setters: http://www.4funparties.com/PRODUCTS/Deco...

These are huge plastic murals that make your theme looks so real. We have used these and love them and so cheap. You buy backgrounds and can add things to them.

    Party decorations:

shindigz, oriental trading, U.S. Toy Company, partycheap, and many, many more.

Have a Hills paty like the MTV show. Decorate with Hollywood backgrounds like these http://www.4funparties.com/events/theme/...

    and:http://www.4funparties.com/events/theme/...

Tell the girls on the invite to wear Hills type dresses and guys preppy style:

http://www.edressme.com/4583.html... but you can find these anywhere for 20 bucks. Give these glasses to the girls when they get there: http://www.windycitynovelties.com/epayso... .

  3. well.. im having my sweet 16 and it's not going to be anything super big. you don't need to have an mtv style birthday to have fun! see if one of your friends has a big backyard that you would use!  than to get a cheap dj ask around.. im sure a friend knows someone that is a dj.  so just ask your friends if you can use their backyard. im sure one will agree and help you out. i hope you have a good birthday!
