I've been wearing the same brand, using the same solution for years... just a few months ago my eyes started getting extremely red and irritated only 2 to 3 hours after I put them in, to the point where I have to take them out... I took a break for a whole week... put them in and it happened again! What the h**l is going on?

  1. Maybe u over wear the lenses. like wore it for more than 10hrs for many days or simply u got to change the lenses.

  2. The first two answers were excellent. And yes it is trial and error. I have been wearing contacts since they only hard hard ones that would (did it once) pop out into salad at dinner..... and they were expensive.

The whole solution and taking them out every night stuff now days is old school and expensive. They are heavy and tend to have more issues.

If you have been using only one doctor try another. Many are stuck in their ways so are more than happy to take your money. The contact world has change so ask for sample packages which they all have. Try some one day disposables, 2 week ones and maybe some tinted ones. Disposables are the way to go. Ask about air exchange.

Sticking with one brand is not the way to go and you have to ask questions. My example..... I was once having drying issues. Everytime you blink the contact is supposed to rotate a bit. I asked for a contact with a slightly smaller diameter and it all went away.

  3. You may have developed a sensitivity to the solution you're using. Most all-purpose solutions contain harsh chemicals for disinfecting and preservatives, which can be very irritating to eyes.

I had the same problem, and my eye doctor had me switch to CIBA Vision Clear Care solution. http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.a...

It's peroxide-based, so it disinfects really well, and removes protein like a dream. It comes with a special lens case (you can't use a regular one with it) that has a metal wheel in it that neutralizes the peroxide, converting it into pure saline. The only drawback is it takes a full 6 hours for the peroxide to neutralize. But it's a small price to pay for comfortable eyes. Definitely give it a try!

  4. Could be allergies or an eye infection of some sort. I have the same problem  right now and am on glasses.  I went to an eye doctor and he said that I had no problems - just pink eye.  Pink eye is an inflammation of the white part of the eye.  For what reason in my case? The doctor said he didn't know.

My advice is to go see a doctor.  It could be that you have sensitive eyes or have allergies to the solution or lenses.  Try changing the solution or go on one day disposables during allergy season.  You might wanna change your contacts..... it's all trial and error in the end unfortunately :(
