It's my son's 18th birthday today and me, him and his best friend are going for a day in London. Already planning to go to Camden (look for clothes etc), Denmark Street (music shops, guitars etc..) but want to do something else too. I'm tinkering with the idea of a flight on the London eye.. any other ideas??

We live just outside of London so the usual tourist attractions aren't really applicable.. and to be honest how may 18 year olds want to go to Madame Tussaud's lol!! Also any ideas on where to take him for a memorable lunch... they eat just about anything so that's not a problem but a personal recommendation or two would help.

Thanks!!!

  1. I was born in London and now live in NZ.  The last time I was there was 1980.  I spent 5 consecutive days looking round the Natural History Museum, which was free then.  If the London Eye had been around, a ride would have been nice.  The first time I went to the Chamber of Horrors I was 8 years old, and enjoyed it.  A memorable lunch?  I once went to a place near Piccadilly Circus where you ate roast beef sandwiches.  You saw guys carrying haunches of roast beef around.  Some friends of ours cater for cruises along the Thames.  You have a meal while cruising along.  There's a Jack the Ripper tour.

  2. Why not try cocoon, Regent Street/Picadilly Circus, Great food very flashy surroundings might be able to do some celeb spoting. Not that expesive.

  3. london eye is closed this time of year. anyway they are probably still clearing the eye of all the fire works they let off on it in the new year party.

  4. Take him to the Miss Shapes at the Ghetto, Indie and pop mixed together for an alternative crowd by Popstarz's Sandra D plus rotating residents Talia, James and Yr Mum Ya Dad.

Jerry Sadowitz, if he wants to have a great laugh.

And then let his friends take him out to the pubs (the older ones lol)

If its a Saturday then take him around Borough market... thats a great day- good food and an awesome atmosphere!

If you are going to be in Camden then you could take him for dinner at Gilgamesh... its a little bit pricey but an experience you would never ever forget, the place is out of this world! Would be about £50 a head...

  9. Take him to The Ivy Restaurant. That's where my mum took me for my 18th. it was great food and you are sat with lots of famous people and its not THAT expensive. I am 25 now and i still remember my 18th like it was yesterday.
