My sons bus driver is rude and inconsiderate. She leaves without her children being seated and belted in. She has spoken on her cellular telephone while driving the bus. She speeds and constantly is on the brink of getting into an accident according to my son. As he was getting dropped off today she sped and came to an abrupt stop across the street from my house. There is a matron on the bus who should be walking him across the street, which does not happen. As many people do not heed stop signs on the bus they drive past and he could get hit. We live on a very busy road and I am concerned for his safety. She also takes a very strange route so that she winds up on the opposite side of the street when she could be dropping him off on the same side as my house if she went a more convenient way. My son rides on a mini bus therefore the rules and regulations are different than that of a regular bus. If someone could please tell me a) how to deal with her and b) some regulations for busses.

  1. Call the authorities of the bus company.

  2. I would first contact the district she drives for asap and inform them be for something happens and then you feel a little guilty for not speaking out. This is serious for the simple fact she is a CDL holder!!!! You can also contact your local DPS and let them know the situation. They could probably patrol her route and find out whats really going on. If the things your son is saying are true DOT will shut her down and pull her license.

  3. I would call the Superintendent of Schools, the bus company that the school system uses and the school that your son goes to and threaten legal action if the bus driver is not immediately investigated for unsafe driving practices and violation of the rules.  This is your child and the safety of your child that you are talking about.  You don't have to be nice, you don't have to be polite, you are to demand action immediately.  Mini-bus, large bus....they all have basically the same rules that they have to follow and this woman is not following them.

  4. Get in contact with the bus company she works for, it should be written on the side of the bus, and file a complaint against her, try to get in touch with other kids' parents and find out if there similar complaints against her from the other kids, that will help you when making your complaint

  5. I was a cop for four years so I can answer your question about what you can do legally.  First, you may call the police, and tell them about the ongoing issue of people failing to stop for the bus.  However, they can not do a single thing about the busdriver herself unless she speeds or does something reckless in front of them.  Cops are busy, so I can assure you that they are not going to assign a cop to follow the bus around.  They may patrol the area during the tme the bus lets out though, but this is only if they're not busy with answering calls for service.

Your best bet is to call the school transportation company and give them the bus number and her description if you do not have her name.  DOCUMENT dates, times, and exactly what happened.  Do not turn in a scribbled sheet of paper saying that she is a rude person.  Type out something with the dates, times, and exactly what concerns you about her behavior and/or attitude.

Oh, and be professional otherwise you won't be taken seriously.

  6. You would just report this to the school districts main office and file a report with them, you will also want to notify the school as well.

  7. Contact the school

  8. Report her to the company she drives for,,,, sooner rather than later !!!!!!! she is endangering your sons and all the other children lives.
