  1. The laws are not "always " changing.   But so many people give out incorrect info, that they confuse other folks. It has been the law for over a year now that passports are needed for everyone who FLIES between the U.S. and Mexico.  the reuirement for passports for LAND and sea travel was postponed last fall, and again in Jan.  The date has not been set, but will be after next summer. Right now, you need a photo I.d. for adults, a birth certificate for children.  Adults SHOULD also carry their birth certificate...and after Jan. 31, it will be required...this regulation was announced  over a year ago.  You can see the site below to read current info...read top half of page carefully.  Good idea to check this site from time to time as it is the official info and the place where all new info is posted first...then you know you have correct info.

  2. Do you have a passport? If you have one and you have a birth certificate for your child you might still be OK. You can call the boarder and check what the current guidelines are. The law did change that American citizen do have to have a passport but perhaps they will let you come in one time. But don't take chances.

  3. All you need for your son right now is his original birth certificate when you travel by land or sea. That requirement will change MAYBE in the summer. If you were flying he would need a passport.)
