the uncle is trying to say he will disburse the insurance money but he's not listed on the insurance policy in any manner.

  1. The insurance company will disburse the money directly.  There's no reason the uncle will be involved, unless it is to help the insurance company needs the uncle, to verify the address of the son and daughter.

    I'm sorry for their loss!


  2. If these kids are minors, then either the kids' legal guardian gets to disburse the funds, or the court will appoint someone to disburse the funds.  

    It's possible mom set it up so that the uncle is the trustee of the funds.

    Don't worry, the insurance company won't let anyone pull a fast one.

  3. The insurance company will disburse the proceeds directly to the named beneficiary(ies) and no one else.  Wills or estate plans don't enter into it unless the estate IS the beneficiary.

  4. Since they are not minors the money will go straight to the beneficiaries.  The life insurance company will send them a check directly with their name on it.  Tax free, slam dunk, uncle will never see the money.

    The uncle only has control of the other assets in the estate.
