It is approximately 2 inches including it's tail, changes from brown to black in color, appears to have maybe orange dots/lines on it's tail and maybe some orange dots on it's back. It's so small it's hard to tell. It will crawl on my son's hand comfortably and even hang upside down. We are in the North Georgia area. He found it near a log but not near water. We have tried to distinguish if it has eyelids to determine if maybe it's a type of gecko - it doesn't appear to but could possibly - it is so small and so cute!

  1. teach your child to be a guardian of wildlife not a destroyer of wildlife.  please return the lizard where it was found.  thank you.

  2. Its an anole, a small lizard that lives in the south east and many other warm places

  3. 5 LIned Skink--Let it go for the benefit of the animal.  At that size food sources will be difficult to maintain.

  4. Keep it! If it dies, turn it into a family meal.

Remember what Ace Ventura said:  "Eat up boys, none of this animal goes to waste!"

  5. Geckos come in all different shades of colors.  I've seen them with white spots, orange spots and no spots.  I have light colored ones all over my house.  They climb bricks and change color to match the brick.

They eat bugs.  You should teach your son that wild animals are wild and should be let free.  It was a hard lesson for my daughter as she kept bringing home wild snakes and scaring the willy out of me.

Geckos, spiders and snakes do our neighborhood good by eating the bad bugs.  Besides, it will get out and be IN your house instead of ON your house.  Tell your son that his pet can live in your back/front yard to help keep the pests down.

  6. Let it go.....buy your son a lizard from the pet store.

It is wild, it will not live to long in captive especially if you can't distiguish what type of lizard it is.
