  1. If you want your son to have a reptile pet, then purchase him one from a respected breeder or specialty pet shop.  It's vital to the well-being of a reptile (or any pet) that you know the species and understand its housing, feeding and lighting needs ***before*** attempting to keep it.  ***Always**** have a proper enclosure set up before obtaining a reptile pet.

Allowing your son to take a reptile from the wild is incredibly irresponsible and cruel.  You are teaching your son a harsh lesson at the reptile's expense!!  Basically, your son will learn that stealing reptiles from their home in the wild will kill it. Also, in many areas what you have done is illegal.  You should return the creature to its proper home immediately.....

  2. Ok first of all PUT IT BACK what your doing is cruel and immoral and in alot of places illegal

how do u know your keeping it correctly do u even know what species it is. keeping wild caught(WC) salamanders is cruel many just die im captivity no real reason it just happens add this the number that die from stress stress related disease then ur hitting quite a high number. also wc salamanders have shortened lifespans stress related behavior disorders and tend to get ill easy. wc almost never have a good quality of life its cruel to the animal.

salamanders arent as easy to keep as some people think, i dunno who this culture has emerged that thinks amphibains are as easy to keep as fish but there not they require specific care

finally disease and parasites are an issue. some salamanders carry disease that can be passed onto humans but the main risk is to other amphibains. when amphibians are placed in a tank together disease can run writhe making both creatures ill and making for an unpleasant environment add this too there lowered immune system due to the stress of being snatched from the wild and u have a recipe for disaster.

why did u even let your child bring it home.
