  1. Why is he in big trouble?  His teacher sounds uptight!

As another poster said - he's obviously proud of it!

More interesting than showing his Yugio (how do you spell it?) cards!!!!!

  2. Why aren't you monitoring what he takes to school? A cup, in and of itself, is not a bad thing. But what 8 year olds SAY about cups is probably the problem here. I'm sorry but I don't think it's an appropriate thing to "share" in class.

BTW, what third grade class still has "sharing time?" Sounds kind of babyish to me.

  3. It must be something he is proud of. Its cute!

  4. First of all did he get in trouble for bringing in the cup or did he get in trouble for what he said about the cup? Maybe he is just proud of the fact that he plays soccer but didn't think a soccerball would fit in his backpack? I would explain to him that anything that goes under our pants is not to be shown to people because they are private things just like our private parts. By this age he should know about his privates so that should help.  Make sure he understands that there is nothing gross or bad about his cup or underwear just that it is not polite to show them to people. Find some other fun things that he can bring to show and tell. Until you are sure he understands I would check his backpack every day to make sure that he hasn't brought anything inappropriate with him to school. I don't think a punishment is necessary unless you told him before that he can't take things like that to school. It is just a phase that he will grow out off.

  5. LOL, you could try telling the teacher to lighten up.  What did she expect when she's got show and tell for 3rd graders?  Just tell him that when it comes to anything regarding his privates, he should keep them- private.  And leave it at that.  It's not a big deal.  When my brothers played baseball, all the boys would hit their cups with bats in the dug out and say, "Balls of steel!"  It's just what boys do.  If you really want him to have some sort of punishment, have him write his teacher an apology....If you don't like that, tell him he has to play his next soccer game without his cup.  :P

  6. It sounds like true innocence! It seems analogous to Kids say the darnest things!

  7. I don't understand why it is so bad either. It is a piece of his sportswear. It is not like he pulled down his pants and showed them.

  8. Please allow me to blow your mind: Professional athletes bring their cups TO WORK and they have "professional" in their title. In sum, bringing your cup to work/school is nothing short of professional.

  9. I'm so sorry but I'm laughing out loud!  That's the funniest, cutest thing I've heard all day.  BTW, he is a 3rd grade boy.  They can be the worst!  Don't be too hard on him!

This is one to tell about at his wedding someday though!
