My son got x box

My son got x box for birthday for christmas. We have been trying to get it connected to wireless. we bought router and wireless adaptor specifically for x box. Netgear have tried on 3 separate occasions to get us connected. They managed to get my laptop connected but fail when it comes to x box. Could it be the x box thats the problem or are we doing something wrong.
