Question:

My son graduates from boot camp on July 3rd. I do not know where I need to go for this event. Does any one?

He is training in Ft Jackson, SC and I have been unable to get any details or information as to where I need go for the family fun day or graduation. Have to find out soon because I have at least a 16 hour drive. Thanks to whom ever can help.

  1. You should get a letter from his basic training unit with basic information (what time and where the graduation is, as well as info on what you need to get on base etc). If you have not received this letter yet you should try to contact your son and see if he can request the info from his drill sergeant. When he entered basic training he was supposed to fill out a form about who to invite to the graduation, but if there was a mixup it could be that your letter is late or may never come. Maybe he also indicated that the letter should go to someone else (girlfriend, friend, other parent etc)? The best thing to do is to plan to be there early July 3rd and stay in a hotel off base. Hopefully your son will be able to call you before than to give you more info.

  2. its usualy where they are training.. My advice to you would be to call the base and ask.. everywhere is diffrent... good luck! and congradulations!!
