  1. Hello who.  Please, be patient and get good therapy.  The noises will go away when he starts to develop interesting things to keep his mind busy with other activities.  Autistic kids make noise and rock, etc to stimulate the brain...that soothes them.  Remember, seek, if you haven't already, good therapy as soon as possible and if your child is mildly autistic, majority of autistic signs will go away.  My son was doing all the autistic "signs" at age 3, but now at 10, you can't even tell.  OH, go to www.autismspeaks.org and purchase a badge that reads...'Please don't judge me...I'm Autistic" or something to that effect so he can wear proudly and others won't be so judgmental towards him out in public.  :D

  2. Mom, be patience it is extremely hard raising a child with Autism. People are always going to talk. People talk about  "normal" kids. As a special teacher. Please know that you need to fight for your child. Your child has rights, and the education will not always give you those right. He needs Occupational Therapist, Speech, school program if possible a home program etc...

As far as the sounds you are going to be dealing with behaviors for ever just like any other child. Usually, when they make noise they are tuning the environment out. There is to much noise around or to many things going on. It is his way of copping. Behaviors never go away they develop into new behavior. You need to teach him stragetries to help him cope. Replace the behavior with something else. Find the reason for behavior, for example when he is making noise keep a notebook about what is happening around him. Eventually, there will be a common thread and you can help him cope. Please, be patience behavior are going to pop up and just remember to pick your battles and normal is different for everyone.
