  1. you should call your dr's office they should have a nurse or dr on call. motrin works better for fevers then Tylenol and I know in adults you can give both at the same time cuz they work differently but with babies I don't think that would be a good idea in less your dr said so.

  2. If he has had this fever for more than 24hrs you should take him to the ER ASAP...

You need to break the fever, as strange as it sounds put him in a warm bath, make him sweat it out. Not TO hot, you don't want to burn him, but about 99* or so. Also give him LOTS of water. Flush whatever is in his system making him ill OUT. Force as much water on him as you can.

You can also do a cold bath (Ive heard of other people who do it this way) but I never preferred this method, it normally takes to long for me, and has the potential to make them sicker. If you can force him to sweat, the germs in his system will be forced out through his pores. Thats WHY we get hot when we are sick, its our body's defenses trying to force the germs out of our system.

If at any point the fever goes over 102 you need to go to the ER immediately.

Also if his temperature goes up to 103.5 CALL AN AMBULANCE, but please don't wait this long.

Try lots and LOTS of liquids (force him do down as much as possible without making him physically ill) and a hot bath. If his temperature doesn't go down after a 45min hot bath and about 1/2 a gallon of cold water go to the ER and see what they can do.

  3. over 101 with a one yr old you are supposed to get treatment immediatley. call the dr asap. if you cant reach him, call the ER and ask if you should bring him in.

  4. Strip him down to his diaper. You can rotate the motrin and tylenol every 3 hours. If he doesn't have any other symptoms such as lethargy or something that just isn't quite right, give it time. If his fever doesn't break by morning, call the doctor, they will tell you what to do. It is more than likely a virus or teething so the doctor won't do anything if there no other symptoms. Follow your instinct--if you feel like somethings really wrong take him to the ER.

I wouldn't suggest a warm or hot bath. That will raise his temp not lower it. If you want to give a bath, give it lukewarm.

I hope he feels better soon! Little ones worry us mommies so much!

  5. I would try:

wet wash cloths onback of neck and damply tap chest and back.

stay on top of tylenol doeses, it worked best to break my sons temp.

he had a temp of 39.4 for 4 days and when brought to the doctor there was nothing more to do that what we had already been doing for days.

we kept him in a one-sie the eitire time. maybe a sleeper for your boy?

other note. babies/toodlers cant get fevers from teething. it could jsut be a bug going around. if the fever stays around for more han 3-4 days i would than bring him to the doctor. other than that make sure he stays hydrated and has been given tylenol to break the fever.

  6. He will be fine. I know I worried when my daughters temperature got to 102, and I called the on call doctor. She advised that it wasn't serious till it hit 104-105. There is nothing that you can really do, other than give him tylenol and fluids. Definitely make sure you get pedialite to keep him hydrated. And if you really get scared, just call the on call doctor.

  7. Do you have any idea what is causing the fever?  For instance, it you think it's teething, I wouldn't call it serious, however, if you think it's scarlet fever, he'd need to go to the ER.

You can alternate ibuprofen and tylenol.  If he's red, perhaps his fever is worse, and you're just making it lower with treatments.  A medium cool (not cold) bath will probably help, with the temperature about 95 degrees, and make sure he stays hydrated, and that he's able to go pee and poo just fine.  Good luck, and I hope he starts feeling better soon!

  8. I have a suggestion.  your infant son has a fever of 102. so instead of asking people on yahoo answers, why not take him to the hospital for treatment, seriously, as a mother have you not considered this yet?

  9. A cool washcloth on the head.  Call your pediatricians on call line and explain the situation.  They may want you to go in, they may not, 102 is borderline for bringing him in.  Teething does cause fevers, usually not a concern at all. How long ago did you give tylenol?

  10. tylenol can take up to an hour to really "break" the fever. You can try to wipe him down with a cool cloth or just have him cuddle in his diaper until the Tylenol kicks in. Call his Doc maybe?!

  11. Call your pediatrician.   Somebody will be on call for him even in the night.  Watch carefully the amount of Tylenol you're giving, and make note also of the time of day you gave it, so you can tell the doctor this.

How are you taking his temperature??   In the ear?  Sometimes it registers higher or lower depending on where you insert the thermometer.

You need to be sure he takes plenty of fluids -- juices in his bottle, or water, besides his regular food.

If you have a teething ring which you can freeze in your freezer, then give it to him to suck on, it will sometimes bring him relief from the teething pain.

You may need to go to the emergency room of your nearest hospital.  If he's been feverish for a long time and has become dehydrated he may require an IV to establish hydration.
