My son has misplaced his national insurance number card. How do I obtain a replacement?

  1. You must get a medical card ( your doctors will tell you where to get this from ) then you must contact the local DWP ( department of work & pensions / dhss ) they will ask for your medical card & i.d/ proof of address,  then they will give you the n.i number again !


  2. See www.hmrc.gov.uk/nic/ynino.htm. You can contact any HMRC or DWP office. Your son will have to complete an application form for a duplicate, you can't obtain it. Only one replacement card can ever be issued.

  3. Contact your local  Inland Revenue office

  4. Does he actually need the card or just the number?  Any pay slip will have his NI number on it.  I'm assuming he's worked, of course.

  5. Contact your nearest JobcentrePlus.
