  1. Halo 1, 2 or 3? No, Halo increases the brain activity helping with strategy and concentration. The books are equally useful.

  2. Personally I think it is too violent. My 12 year old stepson became OBSESSED with HALO cause his mother lets him sit and play for hours and hours on end, and it got to the point where he would refuse to play any other game unless it was a violent shooting game. It all boils down to how responsible the parent will be in how much time they allow their children to become involved in video games (any game...not just HALO), but it is my personal feeling that it is much too violent for a 10 year old. Good luck!

  3. My husband plays Halo and I would not let my child play it. I have girls so they have no interest in those type of games. But even if I had a son I would not let him play that game at 10. I do not see a point in letting a child play kill, period. But that is my opinion. Play the game yourself and see what you think of it. It has an M rating for a reason.

  4. 10 is WAY to young

  5. its just a game not like hes gonna go out nd shoot anybody...its a fun game so i can see why he wants to play..but that wud prolly be ok that hes playing..lil boys like video games nd that games fun..so it is ok

  6. Halo itself isn't a bad game as far as blood and gore.  But with that being said, I wouldn't recommend you let him play it on an open game...like you find on X-Box Live.  There are too many older men (and women) that get pretty vulgar in their language.  I have been embarrassed at times when I'm playing with my husband on-line, and I'm almost 30.

  7. I would NEVER let my 10 year old play that game!  It is quite violent IMO.

  8. I'm happy you asked about this. In my opinion, any Halo game is to violent for a kid of his age to play. The whole point of the game is to mature & violent for someone of his age to even get. Halo isn't a bad game for adults but it is way to violent for a 10 year old to play (I own all 3 copies). The label says M for mature, which means even the people who made the game are saying its not for children.

  9. HALO is rated M on gaming systems (m stands for mature its the level above T or teen rated games) I think HALO is deffidently too mature for a ten year old because of the actual point of the game which is to shoot and kill things. If you choose to alow your child to play you should probably have a sit down talk before they start and you should talk about how its very violent and that shooting is not something that should be taken lightly and its very dangerous and you only shoot in games when its fake... Then have a parent always present when your child plays the game to check up on it.. You may want to play it before your child so you know what it looks like and what its about.

  10. It's not appropriate for him at all.

He should only be playing games marked E for Everyone, or children's games.

You really need to monitor this!

  11. when i was 12 yrs old i was playing james bond and its a shooting game at least in halo there shooting the enemys and there is no blood in the game

  12. Yes, he's far too young for it. It is rated M for mature (at least in the US) which means it is illegal for a minor to buy it and adults are strongly encouraged not to purchase it for minors. It is violent--there are a lot of guns and weapons in there, and when someone is shot or killed (by a grenade or is run over) blood splatters. It's far too violent for him. Maybe when he's 15 and much more mature he could play it, but not now.

  13. Although it is rated "M," the rating is a slight exaggeration. However you must speak to him before letting him play. He must be reminded that it is a game and that the stuff he is doing would be bad in real life.

Luckily, unlike many shooter games, this game is not going to desensitize him. It doesn't show anything more than a little bit of blood, so it's not like he'll be exposed to bodies being torn up by bullets. On top of that, the game also shows the emotion of war, instead of just the "fun" like most games. So he won't want to be shipped off to the army after playing. You actually see soldier being scared that they may die, and being upset at the death of their teammates and such.

However, if you won't be willing to make sure you have mature discussions to him about this stuff, then forget it right now.

  14. Halo is an awesome game but i think 10 is a little too young. There is no real gore its just shooting aliens really. Although in todays society i would not let a 10 year old into guns maybe 12.

  15. I was playing halo when I was 8!  And I have turned out ok.  If he wants a little help, tell him to Google "Halo Cheats".  He will love what he finds!  And is he playing the first halo?  Because it is a little dated.

Perhaps you should get him Halo 2.  Or, you know, both Halo 1&2 are playable on the X-box 360, plus he can get Halo 3 that way!  Because Halo 3 is only playable on the 360. Well, best of luck, Ella.
