  1. Simple...get one of those walkers...you sit the child in it,and he builds leg strenghth, and still reward him for it.

  2. Get one good walker and that will do.

I bough a walker for my 16 month old daughter few months back online.

You can check with the shop: http://www.stirlingpramcentre.co.uk/shop...

  3. Your not doing anything wrong! Your son will walk when he is ready to and that is what you need to tell your mother in law. Have you tried taking his favorite toy and holding it for him and then have him to stand to reach for it? Or take all of his toys and place them on the couch so he will have to get up and stand to reach for them. If he's able to stand on his own he will be walking soon, but just at his own pace..I know how frustrating it can be.

  4. You could play happy music for him and encourage him to 'dance' . Babies love 'dancing' especially if you do this with him. Clap your hand and dance with himThis will develop his muscles and strenghten his legs which he seems to need.

  5. Wait, some kids just do not rush things, my poor old mum was worried that I would not get it right before school age I was so slow. I am ok now , I am 58 and I finaly cracked it. My first child took some time as she just was not bothered, the second drove us mad because she would not sit still, THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT.

  6. spank his butt

  7. If he is 18 months old and and not walking then you need to see his doctor about this.  Make an appointment this week if you can.

  8. Hey take no notice of the people around you he'll walk when he wants to.  Only worry when your doctor or health visitor says so.  If you really do want to encourage him to walk stand him up and you stand only a few inches from him with an ice cream or whatever he loves, it may take some time but please don't worry cos what makes me cross in life is that our children should be doing certain things at certain ages - rubbish all our beautiful children develop as and when they want to and it shouldn't be forced on them.  Good luck and enjoy your son.

  9. use one of those walkers with music and lights!

  10. talk to your health visitor! they will help you!

my sister-in-laws son didnt walk for a while and turned out he had a problem with his hip which caused him pain when he stood and put pressure on it which prevented him from walking until late! not meaning to scare you but its worth checking out!

  11. can he walk ? or just refuses to walk

if hes not walking by now i think you should maybe see your health visitor or doctor if hes just refusing to walk then is his shoes or socks too small for him as this can cause problems my daughter has been walking since 12 months

  12. Kids walk when they're ready, 18 months is not a late age, my son never walked until he was about 2 1/2, now he runs around like a lunatic! :o)

As suggested a walker may well help.

  13. i know babies walk at different times, but at 18 months you need to take him to his pediatrician. didn't he just have his 18 months check up?

    Good luck!

ps: there is really nothing you can do to make him walk, he will walk when he feels like it. but you can try the walkers if you have gates or no stairs.
