  1. Binky's will affect children's speech and language development so you are right to want to give them up.  How about leaving them for the Binky fairy.  Tell your son that the fairy needs them to pass on to children who haven't got any Binky's and that she will exchange the Binkys for a special present.  Get him to put them into a bag.  Leave the bag somewhere like on a tree or at the back door, when he goes to bed, and then in the morning the bag has gone and the Binky fairy (you) has left a present in exchange.

  2. don't lie to your kid, as s**y Beast suggested.  just throw them away.

our son (who is now 22 months as of tomorrow) hardly used the binky, so it wasn't hard at all to get rid of it.  we didn't want him to become attached and we didn't want to use it as a source of comfort.  we gave the comfort to him at that age...not an object.

also, my son doesn't say even 15 words yet, but he learns more and more.  your son will learn to talk more, each child is different.  don't try and compare your child to another child....that will make you competitive and we don't need any more competitive parents in this world.

anyways, just take the binky away from him, throw them away.  he'll fuss for a couple days but they forget about it.

  3. fortunately my son got off the Binky all by himself, a week after his 1st birthday.

but what my sister (Kelly) did for her daughter (Maddie) was tell her she is too big for a Binky, and we made (Maddie) throw her Binky's in the trash can...

she would get a little upset a bed time but she got over it pretty quickly...

  4. Throw them all away....he'll fuss for two days at most and then move on. Thats all you can do...you can go through all sorts of rigamarole and fairy tales or just chuck them in the bin and then tell him "They've all gone" ...he will complain a lot at first and then he will forget it.

  5. cut the little nipple off of the binky..it worked for me

i was on the binky until i was like 5 years old.

  6. my mom said she used the "binkie monster" she told my brother that the binkie monster took it cause he was to old and if he got another one binkie monster germs and slober would be all over it lol and he didnt want it anymore

  7. He isn't even 2 years old yet he isn't going to have a huge vocabulary for quite some time.  He isn't read to recite the Gettysburg Address.  As far as the PACIFIER, if you feel comfortable removing an item of comfort then remove it, however it is not necessary to do so.  Most children break themselves of the habit in their own time.
