My son was born 5 weeks early, so I have always been a little bit of a freak that he may be behind developmentally. For the past month he has been rolling over from his back to his belly with no problem, but he can't seem to get from him belly to his back. He has rolled from his belly to his back in the past, but I think it was just by mistake. Once he is on his belly for a few minutes he starts fussing, and I have to help him roll back over. Is this normal??? He has his six month check up in a couple of weeks, so I will ask his pediatrician then, but I was just curious to get an answer before then.

  1. yes it is normal, it takes more effort to go from belly to back so give him a little longer to get the hang of it.

  2. Very normal. My son could roll from back to stomach since just a couple of months old, but didn't start rolling from stomach to back until about 6 months.

  3. My son will be seven months on the 28th. He was been rolling from his back to his belly since three months. He was been able to roll from his belly to his back since about five months but just doesn't like to do it! He will do it when he's playing or doesn't mean to but at almost seven months when he actually WANTS to get off his belly...he wont do it by himself. He will fuss fuss fuss until mommy rolls him on his back! I think he just knows I will do it and is being lazy!! lol Don't worry!

  4. normal. My daughter was able to roll from belly to back but wouldnt roll from back to belly for a while. Each child is different

  5. Ignore that stuped jerk that said he may be retarted, she may go to h**l for that one, anyway it is completely normal, my baby boy did the same thing. He didn't start rolling both ways until he was about 6 months old. I'm sure he's perfectly normal, I too was premature and came out just fine. I know your worries, I'm a worrier myself....stay strong, ha!ha! good Luck mom!

  6. yep, it's normal.  my son did that, we called him a turtle and had to rush in to flip the turtle back onto its back in the middle of the night before the getting stuck on belly fussing woke him up!  he got it eventually, 6 months I think.  i'm sure he's just perfect.
