  1. Let him do gymnastics.  Have you seen the male gymnasts at the Olympics?  They are awesome. My hubby was put in ballet when he was little by my MIL.  He only did it for a few years, but he is a great dancer now because of it.

  2. I would let him do gymnastics ... its a great sport for both boys & girls!!

  3. Yes definately, I'm sure over time, you can also introduce him to some other sports, like soccer requires flexibility, tennis is built for someone skinny.! Everyone goes through a stage of wanting to do something, or play something different., who knows, by the time they are 10, they might want to do something different.

  4. If it were me I would let my kid do gymnastics (but I would draw the line at cheerleading at the age of seven, but if he still wanted to cheer in high school I couldn't stop him)

Gymnastics is a real Olympic sport (not some non-sport like curling) and gymnasts have to be really fit to keep up (some of my friends are gymnasts). And most gold medalists start young.

  5. You should always support your children in whatever they want to do.  It will give him great self esteem.  Its not called "conditional" love.

  6. Yes, that is a very strenuous sport, your muscles have to be very well developed.

  7. Children who are ahead mentally often fall into the trap of finding only academic pursuits, reading, computer, games, etc. and fall behind in their physical abilities.

With my kids, we just let them go where they wanted to.  My daughter became a lifeguard.  My son rides his bike a lot, but the marching band provides most of his physical fitness.

Don't let them get into too many activities, but support them in those endeavors that you believe will teach them lessons about life.

  8. yes.  let him do what he is interested in.  he will excel at what he enjoys.

  9. well thats great. he is expanding his horizions being smart and good at gymnastics is a great thing. be prud show him to the world, who knows he might become a genius AND an amazing gymnist

  10. Yes let him do gymnastics if that is what interests him. Good exercise, helps balance, co ordination and flexiblity. Give him time he may show more enthusiasm for sport later on. Some of us aren't too fussed whether we play sport or not. All the best with your fella.

  11. OF COURSE!! Encourage him! Great sport!!!

  12. gymnastics is a sport...I think it's one of the most watched in the Olympics actually.  I don't understand why you are asking US if you should let him do gymnastics...that's up to you.

  13. yes, please let him do it!

  14. Yes!

  15. Definetly! Guys can get amazing scholarships if they start young

  16. I also have a seven year old son who love gymnastics. He excellls in school and reads ona 4th grade level. We have tried baseball, soccer and karate in the past, but gymnastics is what he enjoys and therefore where he does best. I believe as long as what your child is doing makes him or her happy and causes tehm noe harm then that is what you shoud support. nest year he may be into something else but for now if this is what makes him happy go for it.

  17. yes, there is s sport called men's gymnastics.duh...better than sittin on the couch

  18. Let the child pick what he wants to do. One of the worse things parents do is enforce their hobbies or what is an ideal hobby for the child.

  19. Of course you should let him.  Gymnastics won't turn your kid g*y.

  20. why would you not encourage him?

p.s.  the 'w' button on your keyboard seems broke.

  21. Have you seen a male gymnast lately.  The have total body sculpting, I would want that for my child.

  22. In my opinion this is one of the best sports out there. He will learn so much from gymnastics. Look at the boys team and as the boys get older. ? They are really nice and respectful. Kids in this sport get there homework down right away so they can go to the gym. Generally are AB students. Maybe you think that it is a girl sport like most people do? It is not. It takes lots of strength and will. Anyone can play a sport but not everyone can do gymanstics.

Just look around the gym and you will be able to answer your own questions. They can learn other sports in gym class at school. Gymnastics is alot of fun for child and parent.

  23. Gymnastics is a sport. There's nothing wrong with a male gymnast. It requires lots of strenght, flexibility, and practise. Who knows, encourage him enough and he could go to the Olympics.

  24. What's wrong with gymnastics? It requires strength, agility and self discipline. By all means, encourage him.

  25. YES, LET HIM BE HIS SELF

TO MANY PARENTS PUSH THERE KID TO DO WHAT THEY WONT THEM TO DO

  26. Uh..why wouldn't you? Why is this even an issue?

  27. I believe whatever they're interested in is what we should let them do.  If they like soccer, soccer it is.  Nothing at all wrong with gymnastics, maybe someday you'll get to see him in the Olympics saying "hi Mom!" from the gold medal platform!!

  28. Let me tell you gymnastics is HARDCORE.

Patrick Swayze, Jackie Chan, even Wesley Snipes have all been gymnasts.

In the USA male ballet dancers and gymnasts aren't looked upon as "masculine" but in the rest of the world they are held as the true athletes that they are.

Let your son do gymnastics and if anybody starts with him believe you me he can drop kick them and it will hurt.

  29. it is not going to be fair if you insist on things not of interest to your child, right? and besides your child will be performing well if it's aligned with his interest.. so let your child choose what he likes.. and you are there supporting him

  30. Why not?

  31. man... when I was 7 I looked over to the other side of the gym and those guys were HOT doing all their little moves on those rings and bars and stuff...
