  1. make sure that he eats plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, and lots of fluids.  mashed banana and things like peach or plum can provide lots of fibre, and unlike dried fruit e.g. prunes, they contain more fluid which will help to soften his poo.  also, they're full of vitamins, and because they're sweet, he'll love to eat them!

  2. Full strength apple juice!!! Trust me.

  3. Gerber Pear juice.. It is already diluted so you dont have to add water and it usually produces a bowel movement within 24hrs.. Worked for my little breastfed guy..

  4. I gave my daughter half a teaspoon of fig extract.  You can get a bottle from a supermarket or chemists.  Worked a treat!  (And I keep it in the house now for my husband too!!!!)

  5. talk to your son's pediatrician about stuff  you can do. what my son's pediatrician recommended was to put a teaspoon of KAYO syrup in my son's bottles (once in the morning and once at night) and it def. help loosen his stools

  6. apple juice diluted with water, or you can try baby suppositories...they work wonders..

  7. Try some Karo Syrup in the water, but don't give him too much water, also try giving him some veggies, like sweet potatoes, or squash or spinach. Apple juice may help also.

  8. breast fed babies usualy never have hard stool only bottle fed ones,

my son had hard stools so i was told to give him prune juice which i mix with water on a daily basis.

it works wonders for his bowels and he moves every day and it is v loose.

but note that my son is bottle fed but also 7 months old.

you can actually try drinking fresh orange juice yourself as i find that it is what you eat that affects your breast fed child.

    it will do wonders.

  9. have you recently introduced solids at meal times?  That will change the runny breastfed poo to a harder consistency.  If it's hard in a way that you're worried about, I know i was putting a spoonful of prune juice into my babies cereal (baby oatmeal and expressed breaskmilk) until she was regular again.  I also give her boiled/cooled water at meals and few sips here and there through the day now.

  10. If you go to the doctors they give you a powder that fixes the problem

  11. whenever mine used to struggle with poo i used to give them a bottle of luke warm water with brown sugar in it. it always did the trick

  12. Take him to a doctor and make sure he isn't having a problem. Chances are he's fine, but you don't want to mess around with something like this. Does he cry a lot? If so, it may be causing him pain. Especially if you rub his belly.

He's basically eating what you're eating, so there may be something in your diet that doesn't agree with his system. Try mixing a tiny amount of Karo syrup with his water. I don't know what it's supposed to do, but my mother did that if my babies were constipated. It seemed to work.

  13. Has this started just recently? It may be something in your diet that is affecting his bowel movements. Try eating more fiber. You can also try white grape juice and they do make baby suppositories if nothing else seems to be working.

  14. He needs more fluids [ water]. He maybe isn't too keen on just boiled water so doesn't drink enough. Try getting some age appropriate juice and give him more water/juice.  Babies can get dehydrated, especially in this hot weather.

  15. do you feed him the prunes? If you have started sampling solids with him (which is fine, he's old enough) perhaps try apple sauce. It's a bit of a diuretic and may help loosen him up a bit.

If it continues, I'd suggest a call to the Dr for further suggestions.

  16. Ensure he eats plenty of puree'd vegetables and plenty of fluids!!! Always helps!!! When it happened to my daughter as a baby (who i now 6) the health visitor suggested adding a little pure orange or prune juice to boiled water (that works better than apple juice). Also give him wholemeal toast fingers to suck/chew on -good roughage (but never leave unattended). Another good source of fibre is weetabix mashed with a little breast milk. As he is breastfed look at your own diet. Are you eating anything that could be binding him up? Do you eat enough vegetables/roughage/fibre? If it becomes severe and your son seems in pain take him to the Doctor (who may perscribe something to soften his stools (poo). Hope this helps

  17. get 2 da docters!!!!!

  18. Mix some diluted pear juice in a bottle and give it to him. Pear juice is best because it is not acidy on their tummy. That worked wonders for my son.

    Hope that helps!

  19. Have you tried pears? Try it and see if they work.

  20. Hi i an not meaning to sound cheeky when i say this, as i know how some answers can come across, even though your baby is breastfed, what is it that you eat, are you eating much fibre that will do your baby good ? or vice versa, yeah cooled boiled water and prunes yeah will do the trick, i found that apple juice and feeding my daughter brocoli and cauliflower worked great everytime, especially the brocoli.xx

  21. When I had this problem I freaked out. Your son is close to the age of mine, and since I don't give him juice or water yet I thought the answers of juice, water and suppositories a little questionable for me. My son has always had problems with constipation and hard poos and what works wonders for him is to put a tablespoon of Karo Syrup/ Corn Syrup in his formula/ breastmilk once a day and it should help.

  22. try real milk. or squash some banadas in the milk or mix a egg into the milk

  23. hi there poor baby! he must be badly constipated believe it or not sweetcorn juice works everytime! I was at my wits end wondering what to give my 7 month old son and I gave him sweetcorn which was recommended by my friend at first I thought she was mad lol but I gave hinm the juice and it worked a treat I had tried the pear juice and orange juice diluted and nothing worked but that did try it! Gilly x

  24. Of course call the Dr for him that is on call by calling the number of the Dr office and speaking to the answering service....

7 month old breast fed, isnt that kind of old the be breastfeeding?

We use to put teaspoon corn syrup in the bottle for constipation.

  25. try applesauce.  or applejuice.

  26. Any kind of nuts. Grind or close to liquify. Blend it well with his food.
