My son is 8 years old and wants to open his own website. He wants to programme and create his own stuff.?

I am at a loss where to start with him. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I agree with the above poster, go to GoDaddy.com. Sounds like your son is really creative and I think it's nice your supporting him on making his own site! he'll probably be the next computer whiz when he gets older, just be sure he doesn't end up talking to adults online or others withouth permission.

My opinion is that 8 yrs old is too young to do something like that.  I have an 8 yr old and he has a webkinz.  I did just make him his own email address and we starting to work on typing with him, b/c he is my stepson and his mom lives in Hawaii and this is one of our ways of him staying in contact with his mom & stepdad.

I think if your son wants to do that it is a great thing and you should definately encourage his intrests.  He could start by making his own webpage.  

I won't claim to know much about programming or anything but making a livejournal or a webpage for free at webspawner.com could be a good starting place.  If your son keeps them up well then you can continue onto making a website.

Does he know HTML and CSS? With those, you can do a lot, and you don't need any special programs.

Go to GoDaddy.com

He can create his own website without getting into the snares of myspace or facebook.  He is a bit young for those.  But with godaddy he can pick the websites address and look of it without being too expensive.  I believe it's about $9.95 a month.  I hope that helps.
