  1. 8-10 years is the right age . be careful in getting the right trainer . Karate will not  effect height.

  2. Perfect age and perfect exercise as it's not something that will put too much pressure on his young limbs.

  3. My husband does martial arts (not karate) and says that the child needs to be able to concentrate through the class.  Most schools he has been at will enroll kids a young as 4-5 as long as they can stay focused through the entire class.  So I think 8 will be a good age to start.

It might not make him any taller, but it should improve his posture since they emphasize standing up straight.

  4. I teach Karate myself and have been doing it for MANY years.   The youngest kid I have had in my class is age 5.  It teachs them allot and respect and self asteam how to protect them selfs.  I think it is a GREAT idea and no it will not do anything to his growth.  I started karate when I was about 6 1/2 and I am 34 right know I started being a teachers helper when I was about 16 and a brown belt.  Know I have numerouse class's of all diff. ages that I teach 3 nights a week in a school.
