My sister thinks he should put the ring right on the pillow. I'm worried - what if my son loses the ring after all he is 5. What is the tradition here?

  1. tie it to a pillow

  2. I’ve never been to a wedding where the real rings were on the pillow. They’ve always been fake and the real rings are with the maid of honor & best main.

  3. The pillow has a small ribbon you can tie the rings too that way if he trip or plays with the pillows the rings will still be tied n there. Congrats!

  4. Sew it to the pillow with a very loose stitch, and then the best man can pull it off the pillow to give to the groom.  Or you can cut out the middle man and have the groom pull it off the pillow himself when it's time.

  5. Using a pillow is fine , However use a long pin you know the kind with the little pearl on top. This way it has less chance of following off...

  6. the tradition is to give the rings to the best man and the maid of honor.  there suppose to be cheap rings on the pillow and a lot of the pillows already have the cheap rings on them.  you should really tell your sister that its not a good idea.  and how would it flow in the ceremony when the preacher asks for the rings would the best man have to leave his place and get the rings from him?  i don't know.  but i hope this helps =)

  7. Duct tape.

Just kidding! When is he going to loose it? From the second he gets the pillow, he'll be under constant supervision- everyone will watch him walk down the aisle. If you're still nervous, have fake rings with him and the real ones with the best man.

  8. my little brother was the ring beare 2 times..one time they used fake rings and another time they sewed lacey stuff on the pillow and tied the rings to it so they didnt come off

Look at this image you can see how people sometimes tie the ring to the pillow. Trust him. And say to him hunny I'm trusting you with this. He will feel like he has a responsibility. I was once a ring bearer

  10. Hi, yes it goes on a pillow, but usually everyone does a loose basting stitch or there is a ribbon to hold it on

    congrats get lots of pictures!!!

    all the best

  11. If there is no loops to tie the rings down with just take a needle and thread and create some.  This is so if your child does take a knee banger, the rings aren't under the pews.

  12. Most pillows have a tiny ribbon attached. The ring is attached until the ring is to be put on the brides finger...So have no fear. Enjoy the day....Take pictures....

  13. you put it on the pillow but there is usually a loop or something to attach it to. i certainly wouldnt leave it to him to keep up with the entire way down the aisle. lol

  14. tie it on the pillow

  15. The traditino is to put it on a pillow.

  16. You do not put the real rings on the ring bearer's pillow.  You get fake ones or cheap imitations and sew them to the pillow.  The Best Man has the bride's ring and the Maid of Honor has the groom's ring if it is a double ring ceremony.  No one should be trusting actual wedding bands to a 5 year old.  IF the bride doesn't take care of this, be sure that you do.  get the rings at any party or craft store and sew them to the pillow

  17. i was a rig bearer before.all he does is walk down the isle. How can he lose it.

  18. You can use a fake ring that is tied to the pillow and then have the best man and/or maid of honor hold on to the actual rings.

  19. Dont worry! The ring will be tied on. And someone can hold the pillow until just before he walks down the aisle. The ring is not going to suddenly fall off in the two minutes it takes him to walk down the aisle.

As preparation, you can talk to him about how important the rings are. And tell him not to fiddle with the tie.

  20. You tie a fake ring on the pillow. The real rings are held by the Best Man and Maid of Honor.

  21. Have the person right after him hold the ring and place on the pillow once he is scheduled to walk down the aisle.  He has to also know that it is a BIG responsibility and you guys have to let him know you are proud of him, etc, etc! If he knows that he has an IMPORTANT role, he will be more than careful!

  22. Don't give him the pillow until right before he walks down the isle. Give him a faux pillow to practice with, and the ring ties on the pillow so he can't loose it between the door and the alter.

  23. Yes, the tradition is to have it on a pillow.

To prevent him from losing it, attach it or tie it somehow to the pillow, maybe you could try pinning it or using a safety pin or fancy ribbon.

    Congratulations!

  24. use a string and sow it to the pillow and then just tei the  ring into reallly loosly and then its easylt to take  off my aunt did it cuz her daughters best friends was it hes was 3

  25. Most ring bearer pillows have string to tie the rings onto the pillow.  However, I think most people nowadays use fake rings on the pillow just in case.  That's what I did for my wedding.  The best man actually kept the real wedding rings in his pocket and gave them to the priest at the right time.

  26. DO NOT put the real rings on the pillow!

Most ring pillows come with fake rings already tied to it.  The real rings should be with the Best Man, since he will have his hands free and will be standing the closest to the 2 of you.  Your maid of honor will be holding 2 bouquets at that point...

A ring bearer is more of an honorary position and they make the cutest pictures for your album!  Just remember to dress him too cute.

  27. the tradition now is that the best man holds both of the rings. But you can tie them to the pillow if it has ribbon or strings. If it does not, you could always sew some ribbon onto the pillow just to be on the safe side.

I know that I would not trust my ring bearer with our rings, they are only 6 and 3.

  28. Do not put it on the pillow, do not tie it to the pillow, do not give him the ring. Our priest specifically asked us not to do these as well as a five year old can drop it, trip, etc. Heck any adult could! As for tying it, he has seen instances where it's tricky to get the ring off, and at one ceremony, the ring went flying and went down a heating grate! Give the ring to the best man and get a pillow with fake rings tied on already (mine from Micheals had this) or just buy a cheap fake ring!!! Too much pressure for a little guy!!! Good luck and best wishes!

  29. Most people use fake rings on the pillow, while the best man/maid of honor keep track of the real rings. This is highly recommended because little kids, even if they are responsible, shouldn't have to be responsible for keeping track of thousand dollar rings.

If your sister insists on using the real rings, tie them onto the pillow with a ribbon so they don't fall off. And make it clear that it's a risk she's taking, and you can't be held responsible if anything happens to them.

  30. What we did was put a fake ring on there.  We went to Clare's and got a GIANT fake diamond ring (it was really funny actually) and used that one.

My ring bearer was only three though....

I wouldn't take the chance...you are going to be stressed out enough.

  31. tie it to the pillow with something.
