  1. Sit down and help him.  Grounding, and punishing won't help, it will only make things worse.  Sit down, and spend the time that he needs doing his homework.  You will notice a difference not only in his school work, but also in his attitude in general.  Even if he has a pretty good one now, it'll still make a difference.

If you need to, go somewhere, like the library, or a fairly quiet restaurant, wherever it will work for the two of you to get it done.

    Good luck, and HAVE FUN!!

  2. By teaching him to be more organized and prudent and to develop better study habits. Also, inspire him. Those are really the only two things that you can do.

  3. A lot depends on what grade your child is in.  If he is in the lower grades spend time with him on his homework it will become clear after a short period of time where his weakness are and then you can help strengthen his skills to have success in class.  You can also offer incentives to help him better his grades.  Maybe a day at the park alone with you or some other simple free thing that he will appreciate.  My granddaughter did well with sticker charts she is only in the second grade and loves sparkly stickers so it was easy to introduce a reward chart using stickers.  Once she filled a page she got to invite a friend over for the afternoon.  In the middle grades it becomes a matter of learning organization and confidence.  I got my son a visual organizer so he could keep track of when reports, projects and important test date in an easy to follow format.  Every night I would check his organizer and discuss his schedule with him.  I helped him learn to work in small chunks on big projects and recording things accurately (I would check once a week with the teacher to make sure everything was being recorded)  after a short time he was proficent enough to only do spot checks and this organization skill helped him through high school.  Also this time of the year kids thoughts turn from school to outside stuff and their grades can slip.  Try refocussing him on the fact that school has another month and it all counts.  I hope some of this helps.  Good luck.

  4. Ok, first u've got to work with him over some test that he has taken, work on the ones that he got rong.Make him hw sheets or something. Talk to him and his teachers for some help.

  5. That depends. His age and grade level is a factor. My grandson was having behavior problems in kindergarten, my daughter took him to the pediatrician, he had allergies and didn't feel well. Around junior high/middle school age, boys have a hard time focusing in class with all the distractions, including girls in skimpy clothes. I find that middle school students need help with organizing, they do not know how to use their 3 ring notebook as a tool, its usually empty with blank paper inside. They have no notetaking skills, 3x5 inch index cards are very useful. You provided us with no information to help you.

  6. What grade is he in? What are is study habits? has he always struggled or just started struggling? Does he turn in his assignments on time or late? Talk to his teachers and find out what the problems are and then come up with a plan to help. Maybe the teachers need to make accommodations for him in class or maybe your son needs to study for tests at home or you need to check and make sure he has completed and turned in his homework.

I have gone through this and am still working on it with my 12 year old. I have to check up with him daily to make sure that he has completed his homework, projects, and studied for his tests. I check his teachers websites daily for homework assignments. Check his grades on line at least weekly. He does much better (A's and B's) when I constantly check with him.

  7. Get him a tutor..

  8. Start when the year FIRST STARTS not at the end

  9. First of all talking to the teacher helps and if there is one, teaching assistant. So then you can come up with ideas that interconnect with what the teacher is doing.

Then talk to your son, let him know you are always going to support him (only if its the truth remember!).

    Good luck.

  10. By talking to his teachers and figuring out what the problem is.  If he isn't handing in homework, address that.  If he's talking in class and goofing off instead of listening, address that.  If he hasn't memorized his times tables yet, address that.  If he has a learning disability, get him help for that.

There's not one "fix"; you have to narrow down the problem first.

  11. first you can find out from the school if he is getting bad grades because of tests or if its because of not doing homework and school work. If it is because of doing bad at turning in or not doing his homework then you need to become more strict on his daily activities after school. tell him that he cannot do fun things until his homework is done and that you will be checking it afterwards. tell him that you will help him if he gets confused about something that way he comes to you rather than just not doing it. If it is testing then you can make a time for him to study and make sure there are no distractions. the schools usually have aftere school tutoring for most classes as well. You can help him study as well. hope this helps. good luck!
