I heard that I shouldnt pack him a lunch because this is considered "uncool" at this age and he may get picked on for it?

Advice would be great thanks.

  1. I think it would depend on the quality and cost of the cafeteria food, and what his friends are doing. If your goal is to have him blend in, find out from other parents what they are going to do in regards to lunch.

If cost isn't a factor, and the quality of the food is good, I see nothing wrong with eating the school lunch.

One benefit to bringing a lunch is he'll have more time to socialize with his friends, assuming they bring lunches, as it can take a while to get a hot lunch depending on how long the lines are.

  2. there's nothing wrong with packing your child a lunch. my mother packed me lunch until the end of 8th grade. 9th grade i either went home or i ate at school. if he likes what the school is having let him eat there and if not you can pack his lunch. or he can do it or whatever. there's no problem with it. i still have friends who pack their lunches and im going to be a sophmore. there's nothing wrong with not liking what the school is serving

  3. i dont get how thats uncool! im goin to high school, and people pack their lunch!? well, if you feel that he will get bullied then just give him some money

  4. I just graduated from middle school and ALOT of kids packed lunches. its not uncool. Actually people would actually tell them that looks good or I wish my mom would pack me a lunch.

  5. WRONG go ahead and pack hima lunch the whole thing is (no lunch boxes) of anykind no brown paper bags either. just use like a gorcery bag (thats how we do in philly )lol

  6. It is considered a little funny to watch someone take out a packed lunch in the lunch room. But if you really want to pack him lunch since school lunches aren't always too great (at least public school), then buy him a small lunch box (not an actual box just something small to fit in the food) and then have him take it in his backpack to lunch (only if students are supposed to take their backpacks to lunch). This way he can just take out the food from the lunch box in his backpack and eat it without having others actually see the lunch box. Or to be safe, have him buy lunch the first day, and he can observe whether in his school the lunch situation is a big deal or if others don't really care. All schools, and all people are different.

  7. I'm gonna be a junior in high school and I pack my own lunch still.  More than half the people in my school do it and none of them are made fun of for it.
