We used five-gallon buckets with press-on lids for "dry bags." They will hold a sleeping bag.

Those vacuum-bags you see on tv should work. Just make sure that if you get ones that you have to force the air out of that the seal zipper locks all the way so it doesn't leak.

Wal-mart sells waterproof bags in the camping section of most stores, as well as smaller waterproof boxes onclips you can put wallets, phones etc in and clip to your clothing.
