  1. Germany is safe and the people are friendly there, for the most part.  I would say a few pieces of advice are:

    1) Don't bring up controversial political topics

    2) Don't bring up the holocaust or the n***s.

    3) Try to avoid football matches and the violent hooligans that will be associated with them.

    4) Don't drive drunk.  The Polizei are very intolerant of this, especially when it comes to foreigners.

That's pretty much it.  Germany can be a fun country, and, for the most part, people are friendly.  In the northern cities, though, people can be a bit uptight.

  2. Enjoy while you can i Spent 3 years over there. Try to travel and pick up some German girls. Just one thing watch out for turkish people they don't like americans actually they don't like anyone. Remember we have a lot of Military over there so watch out for them, don't get on there bad side they may be the only ones to help you.

  3. I was over there about a year ago and was 18 i would tell him to go to places like berlin and munich but also smaller places.  A great place right near Berlin is Palace Sanchuse i hope i spelled it right.  It is a beautiful palace.  Also I would tell him to go to clubs and Knipes (pubs) not to get drunk or anything but because there are young Germans that hang out at them all the time and it would be a great way to meet people that can show you around.  Another city i would recommend is Dresden.  It is full of culture and has a great museam he might like.  It is a weapons museam it was rather interesting to me even and i was a 18 year olg girl.  and right across from that is an art museam and opera house.  While in Dresden The Freuen Kirche is a must see.  It is a church that was destroyed in a fire bomb by the French in WWII and has been rebuilt with the stones of the old.  If he is at all in to WWII he might go to a consentration camp.  they are full of history but very sad.  So I hope that helped some

  4. while the autobahn has no speed limit, that doesn't mean he knows how to handle a car at high rates of speed. He will be very tempted to drive faster than he is capable of and of course, that will get him killed, and possibly others. Have him drive at increasing speeds, say start out at 80mph for a few drives, then 90mph, then 100mph etc, until he gains enough experience to handle a car at that speed.

Make sure he constantly looks in his rear & side view mirrors because no matter how fast he is going, someone is going faster and HE needs to get out of the way. Try and stay out of the left lane.

Other than that, tell him to have a great time. The people are wonderful, the food is awesome, and the beer is great. Speaking of beer, there is no drinking age there so he can't just pick up some girl at a bar of club and think she is old enough, she could be 13, you never know. Tell him to just be careful.

  5. Practice german and make sure you know what you are saying! GOOD LUCK TO HIM...

  6. I went to Germany by myself when I was 23.  Best time of my life.  Tell him to see as many of the cathedrals and castles as he can.  They are all beautiful and unique.  And tell him to be careful in the pubs... the beer is stronger over there than it is here in the states :)
