My son is in JV football this week was h**l week they had practice twice a day and today he is feeling pain.?

he's been feeling pain for two days now, he started with the real bad pain right after conditioning, he got painful and was not able to run anymore, should he continue to workout at home before he starts practice at school on Monday or should he rest, what should he be doing right now, he'll be playing in two weeks, and I don't know why he got so painful on his legs and ab area, should he be working out after school practice like weight lifting or running? please help, thank you in adavance

  1. This will pay off big time when his games come. So don't worry about it, just be glad your son isn't doing 3-a-days


  2. Coaches do it so the atheletes get sore so they can weed out the "wusses".  It is not conditioning as your son will actually come out of it weaker.  I am a freshman football player going through it right now.

    Oh and just give him rest any time you can and constantly ice his legs.  To ice leave a bag of ice on a sore spot for 15 minutes.  then take it off and don't move for another 10.  then move caustiously.

    Noticed some people say he will come out of it stronger.  This is complete bull.  Tell your son to dog every drill he can to save his legs from getting hurt too bad.

    Ohh and in answer to another guy real football players dog drills.  Not sure if you have heard of him but Randy Moss (Pro wide reciever, most recieving touchdowns in a season) is famous for dogging any drills and plays also plays where he does not get the ball.

  3. Don't listen to the first guy, any real football player would tell you that dogging any drill is the worst thing you can do.  Make sure he is stretching as often as possible (I do 3 times a day during 2 a days not including practice warmups.)  and taking ice baths to allow his legs to recover.  his legs will still be in some pain but it should go away

  4. its normal hes not used to the double sessions yet he'll grow out of it, sore muscle meens they are getting stronger i remenber during track my legs killed after the fisrt week but they didnt after
