Question:

My son just brought in a paper wasp nest, it looks empty but how do I know if there are eggs in it (picture)?

And how would I kill any eggs that might be in it. I'm pretty sure it's an old nest since he wasn't attacked when he knocked it off the garage.

  1. It is empty.  If it had eggs, there would be a piece over the top of all the openings.  You wouldn't be able to see into it.


  2. I don't think any are in it, but it's okay either way. Hornet/ Wasp eggs laid inside the nest by the queen hatch into grublike larvae that must be fed and cared for by the workers. If any eggs hatched indoors the tiny larvae would perish. In other words, no wasps.
