My son got a crown put on one of his molars when he was 3 (he is now almost 12) It came out today, I can't get him to the dentist for a week. I am wondering if this is bad? I mean I know it's not good but what does this mean now, do they just put a new one and that's it or is he gonna need serious work? He has never even had a cavity other than that one bad tooth? What should I do here?

  1. No, at age 12 it is about time for him to lose it. The crown many times comes off before the actual root/baby tooth comes out. Don't worry if it doesn't hurt, but you should make sure his regular checkups stay up to date to make sure all of the root of the tooth comes out. Sometimes pieces of the root don't come out properly as they should.

  2. Was this a primary tooth?  Probably so and there probably isn't a problem.
