Question:

My son lost his first tooth...what's the "procedure" for the tooth fairy?

My son lost his first tooth today, its been loose since the 4th of July and he FINALLY let my sister pull it out. Not even pull...all she did was touch it and it fell out lol. Anyways, we decided to give him $2 since it's his first tooth and he's been saving up for a PS2 game so he'll almost have enough with this $2. That sounds reasonable...$2, right? From here on out we figured $1 would do, but since it's almost his birthday, and he only has 5 weeks left of being an only child we figured we'd make it extra special. Do most parents just slip the money where the envelope was, or put it in another envelope with the child's name on it? I thought of putting the money in an envelope with his name nice and big on it, he's funny like that and would probably save the envelope until his wedding day lol. Any opinions?

  1. My parents used to put a dollar coin under my pillow for each tooth.  As a child, i always enjoyed having a big coin like the dollar piece of 50 cent piece.  But that was me!

  2. i would say put it in the envelope where the money was. i never really got the whole tooth fairy treatment, i knew from the beggining that mom was really the tooth fairy so i just gave her my tooth and she gave me some change. oddly enough it doesn't feel like i missed much, my parents were always really honest about what things were and weren't real so they could focus more on teaching the meanings behind things. so i would say do anything you feel like, you're kid isn't going to remember what other kids got so much as what they got.

  3. I have two girls, one 18 and one 9, and we have always put the tooth either in a kleenex or paper towel and put it under the pillow for the tooth fairy to get.  The tooth fairy gives me the teeth for safe keeping (I have all of their baby teeth).  My usual price for a tooth is $5.  Little ones love the idea of a 5 dollar bill.  Have fun with it!!

  4. shoot my parents lied to me!

the tooth fairy always slipped the money under my pillow. 1 or 2 dollars sounds like a fair amount, i don't totally get how you wan to make this next one special thought

  5. I lost a tooth on Christmas Eve once and got $2 instead of the usual $1 with all my other teeth. You could put it in an envelope, I wouldn't put it under his pillow because that would be really hard to get it out from under him lol, yeah, just get a really cool envelope and write his name really pretty, it will be cool.

  6. wth? $2!!!! i used to get like 10-20!!!!!!

    give him more!!!!!

  7. We do $5 for the first tooth, $1 for every tooth there after. I have them put the tooth in the envelope and replace it with the money. I've saved all of the teeth so far. We have 4 kids and two of them haven't even started losing teeth yet...good luck :)

  8. hiya $2 sounds about right i used to get 50p!

we used to get up in the morning and the money was under our pillow! it was so exciting falling asleep, thinking the fairy was coming!

when my mum was young, they used too get her too wrap her tooth up in tin foil then stand at the top of her stairs and throw it down over her shoulder and then run too bed.

then in the morning she would come down a search for her gift!! how sweet!!

with my boys i am going too do the under pillow as we have a apt and no stairs!! wish we did!

  9. woah. i got SO much more. for my first tooth, i got two magic school bus video games (don't laugh, i was 5), a stuffed animal, $15! do whatever you want. its YOUR chance to make family traditions. just try to make it special! good luck.

  10. My son has a little pillow with a string that hangs over his doorknob. There is a pocket shaped like a tooth that he puts the tooth in. In the morning, there is money in that pocket and the tooth is gone! (I have kept his first four teeth in clean baby food jars with the date he lost them taped on the side.) An envelope is a fine idea if you don't have the little pillow, and $2 is fine. It's YOUR family; YOU get to decide how much to give! Occasionally my son gets a little present instead of money -- once he got a big container of bubbles (which he loves) and another time he got a video. He has been happy with whatever he has gotten.

  11. i got $0.25 for each tooth that i lost....i put it under the pillow, and in the morning, there would be a quarter.  give him whatever amount you feel like, but don't go overboard.

PS-he's not going to save the envelope.

  12. I have 3 kids, 2 are loosing teeth (they are 8 & 7) our 2 year old is still getting them LOL

We did $5 for the 1st tooth and $1 each tooth after.

Geesh better than the 25 cents I used to get!!!!
