  1. get it patented and call or email Hasbro or university games

  2. I have been trying to get a board game published for 2 years now.  You must avoid all intellectual properties: Sponge Bob, Batman, etc.,.  And you can not just call up Hasbro, or Milton Bradley and say I have an idea. They won't even talk to you.   After, you make a prototype, complete with rules, you must play-test it to death to make sure the mechanics are sound.   then you must have someone totally unknown to you read the rules and try to play it without any interference from you to see if others can play the game as you conceived it.  Then if all is well you can contact an agent that promotes games to publishers, or try to talk to publishers that may deal in similar games about publishing.  Expect 3-5 years from play-test to market.  If all goes well.  For more information, check out the link below to the boardgamegeek.  There is an abundance of material to be found in the forums section on getting games published.  The second link is to my game just in case you want to check out how far I have come in two years. Good luck to you.

  3. If your in Canada, get a hold of the  CBC and the program"Dragons Den"...and see what they say

  4. Go to Board Game Geek for advice - the site is used by the industry and players alike.

  5. If you are in the U.S. you will want to get the idea copyrighted so someone else does not copy your idea and to make sure someone else has not already come up with the idea.  This happened to my brother-in-law.  Had what he though was a great idea for a new board game.  Spent money on a mock-up only to find out that someone else had already copyrighted the game.  Check out www.copyright.gov.

Then you will need to decide if you want to manufacture, market and distribute the game on your own or you could pitch your game to a major game company such as Parker Brothers.  Hope this helps!  Good luck!

  6. E-mail HASBRO and ask to talk with a high level representative. Best way i can think of. Oh by the way I charge 5% interest for advice like this!!

  7. before you sell it, get it patented, if you feel that it could become popular. Otherwise you could sell it to someone, who can then legally copy the design and sell it as the're own.

It is suggested that the original creator of 'the landlords game' had the're idea taken and then sold under the name 'monopoly' now wouldn't you be bummed if that happened.

have a look at this website on how to file a patent

from there, you will need to convince a publisher/investors that the board game could see a profitable return for them, and hopefully they will invest their money into massproducing the board game.
