  2. Turn it upside down immediately (with the laptop open so the keyboard/screen can drain off any remaining liquid) and remove the battery

    I wouldn't attempt to switch it on for at least 24 hours.

    Even if it starts up, you may have sticky (not to mention smelly) keys or buttons.

    If the components haven't been fried, simply replacing the keyboard (or screen) if damaged under warranty may fix the problem. There is always the possibility that something on the motherboard may have shorted out.

    If you have home insurance, accidental damage may cover it.
